Guwahati is the largest city of Assam in East-North India, situated on the banks of the vast Brahmaputra River. In ancient times Guwahati was known as Pragjyotisvara. Guwahati is made up of two words Guwa and Haat, in which Guwa means areca and haat means market. The city of Guwahati is also called the gateway to the "Seven Sisters of North East India". Sukreswar Temple

Sukreswar Temple of Guwahati is situated on a hill called Sukeshwar or Itkhuli, south of the Brahmaputra River. This Sukreswar temple is dedicated to Lord Bholenath. Sukreswar Temple was built in the year 1744 by Ahom king Pramatt Sinha. Later in the year, 1759 financial changes were made to it by Rajeshwar Singha.
